CHEERS BEVERAGE CONFERENCE

The premier event for on-premise food and beverage directors and beverage marketing executives, Cheers Beverage conference offers a variety of tastings, workshops, panel discussions, round robin sessions, networking opportunities and keynotes by some of the top names in the industry, including Cameron Mitchell, president and founder of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, and Danny Meyer, president of Union Square Hospitality Group. Attendees to the two-day event will learn tools to rebound and succeed in the new economy. INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION CONVENTION
February 5 – 8, 2010

The largest gathering of franchise business professionals, the International Franchise Association convention focuses on the realities franchise systems are facing today. Educational sessions will feature content and speakers that can make a positive difference in franchisee’s businesses. Seminars will cover such topics as Confronting the New Normal: Leadership Strategies for a Recovering Economy, Communicating for Success: Fostering Positive Franchisor/Franchisee Relationships and Purchasing Co-ops: Opportunity for Immediate & Long-Term Savings. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the International Franchise Association will honour those icons who have been franchising for 50 years. As well, former U.S. President George W. Bush will officially open the 2010 convention, sharing candid insights on his eight years in the White House, his experiences with other world leaders and the nature of public leadership and decision-making. He will also address a wide variety of domestic and international challenges in the 21st century.

INTERNATIONAL PIZZA EXPO
March 2 – 4, 2010

Now in its 26th year, the International Pizza Expo is the world’s largest and oldest pizza tradeshow. Attended by pizzeria owners, operators, managers, distributors and food brokers, the three-day event kicks off with a keynote address from Tony Gemignani, nine-time world pizza champion and co-owner of Pyzano’s Pizzeria and Tony’s Napolenta, followed by seminars on New Found Pizzeria Profits: How to Tap into Catering, Emerging Trends in Retail/Pizzeria Operations and The Importance of Client-Vendor Relationships, among others. Highlights of the expo include trade show demonstrations, culinary competitions, the International Pizza Challenge, where contestants will bring all the ingredients needed to make their best pizzas for independent panels of judges, and the World Pizza Games. Attendees at the show may participate in five competitive events – freestyle acrobatic dough tossing, fastest dough, largest dough stretch, fastest pizza box folding and longest spin – with those triumphant in each category adding their name to the growing list of previous winners.

CRFA SHOW
March 7 – 9, 2010
Toronto, Ont.


Canada’s biggest event for the hospitality industry, the CRFA Show showcases the size and scope of the hospitality industry over three days. Owned and operated by the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association, the annual event is attended by hospitality executives, owners, managers and chefs looking for solutions to help them overcome their daily challenges and succeed in today’s economy. With more than 1,200 exhibit booths, visitors will gain ideas from value-added features like the Eat Local pavilion and new Centre for Sustainability, which will highlight a wide range of environmental solutions for hospitality operators, as well as internationally acclaimed chefs such as Susur Lee who will provide insights into their philosophies and cooking styles. During the show, visitors will also be able to attend a variety of seminars from a roster of 16, each of which will offer practical business advice to improve restaurant profitability. Headlining the program is Jim Laube, president of Restaurantowner.com, who will discuss the Ten Proven Practices to Survive Tough Times. Other seminars will cover such topics as Social Media: How to Fill the Dining Room, Five Things Operators Must Know About Energy Efficiency and the Points of Profit in a restaurant.
