FOOD: WHAT'S COOKING
LULA MAE’S BROWN
SUGAR PECAN PIE

Lula Mae

1 box (16 ounces) light brown sugar
3 tbsp self-rising flour
6 tbsp evaporated milk
3 eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp cornmeal
1 cup pecan pieces
1 unbaked pie shell (9 inches)

Preheat oven to 350 C. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and flour. Add milk, eggs, butter, vanilla, vinegar and cornmeal. Stir to blend. Spread pecans evenly in pie shell. Pour egg mixture over pecans. Bake for 1 hour or until set.

Serves 8.
