Catering and bagel house, Kiva’s Bagel Bakery and Restaurant, marked its 30th anniversary with record breaking news. Baking one million bagels a year, the Toronto staple sold its 30 millionth bagel Nov. 9, in commemoration of the special occasion.
Kiva’s opened its doors in 1979, and has been a permanent fixture in the Toronto community. What began as a bagel bakery serving breakfast has grown to become an accomplished eatery, pastry shop and catering service.
“Our customers know the quality and care we take to make each bagel. It’s what makes Kiva’s stand out from the rest,” says Kiva’s owner, Ben Rafael.
Despite the advent of technology, Kiva’s bagels and twisters are still individually hand rolled, kettle boiled and remain homemade in-house, using only high quality ingredients. In addition to its bagels, Kiva’s has an extensive selection of organic baked goods and a wide variety of cheese and grocery products. It will soon launch a line of custom-made gourmet salads.
